Ten questions to ask AI about your own business

A simple self-test you can do in 15 minutes.

Open ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude and ask the kind of question your buyers ask. Not your company name, but something like "best accountant for a small clinic in Austin".

01 / Build the set

Ask three kinds of question

Discovery

“Who offers [service] for [customer] in [place]?”

Tests whether your business is mentioned without using its name.
Comparison

“How does [your business] compare with [two alternatives]?”

Reveals the differences the answer describes.
Verification

“What does [your business] do, and where is it based?”

Exposes wrong or outdated basic facts.

Write the final wording down before you test. If you change the question each time, you cannot tell whether the answer changed or the prompt did.

02 / Repeat

A small, repeatable sample

This records a small set of observations. It is not a market-wide share-of-voice statistic.

For every answer, note whether you were named, whether the facts were correct, which alternatives appeared and which claims need a source check. Keep the date and question beside each answer.

03 / Act

Turn one finding into one fix

Invented example

Finding: an answer names a clinic software company but puts it in the wrong city.

Check: its website says Pune; a directory says Mumbai.

Action: correct the directory, save the edit and re-run the same question later.

Do not edit a page merely because you were absent from one answer. First look for a specific missing or conflicting fact you can verify.
